Baku, along with Miami (USA), Astana (Kazakhstan), Vitsebsk (Belarus), Tver and Moscow (Russia) will host the first World Cup Selfie Contest, entitled "Make yourself and your country famous".

The art project is organized jointly by Russian V&V Company and the world-famous American company WMA (Wonderful Music Alive).

Valeriy Ilishayev, co-owner of V&V Company told Trend Life about details of such global art project.

"It's quite an interactive global project. Since the project began, those who are interested in joining the contest can fill in an online application form on the project's official website www.world-cup-selfie.com to send selfie pictures or videos," he said.

"We also recommend you to go through the registration form on our partner's website www.tmbclub.ru, where you can communicate with each other, share your selfies and comment them. The interactive TV and radio ("Твой Мир Восток") www.TMB.RU will periodically broadcast the best video clips of participants, to have interview with leading participants of the project and broadcast their best selfies, " said Ilishayev.

In his interview, the producer of the project recommended to join Selfie World club (www.selfieworldclub.com), an American partner of the project which invites all participants to join various actions.

He added that the Accounting Chamber of the General Directorate will provide monitoring over voice counting, certification, systematization as well as the process of identification of the best works and their authors. The best selfie will be defined by SMS voting.

Valeriy Ilishayev also told about the key objective of the project and how it differs from other selfie contests.

"The project aims at promoting human values, discovering more creative abilities of selfie photographs as well as creating an interesting community where you can chat, share your opinion, news and experience. But what's the most important is promotion of not only yourself but also your hometown, the edge of the city, the village, architectural, historical and natural attractions of the country, national cuisine as well as extraordinary people and many other nominations which, we believe, will push many photographs to reconsider their attitude to selfie art," he added.

First, an international jury will choose 100 people among all participants. Then, 50 finalists will compete for the World Cup Selfie. The contest will feature several categories, such as selfie near places of interest, group selfie, selfie in traditional clothing, etc. Everyone regardless of age, gender, religion, nationality and social status can participate in the contest.

The competitors will be awarded special cash prizes, certificates and many more.

The major prize is Grand Prix in the form of silver selfie stick on a marble stand, a very substantial cash prize, as well as modern appliances from leading manufacturers. The most active voters will be rewarded with prizes as well.

With the invention of smartphone, Selfie has become a phenomenon of the 21st century. Selfies can be shared on social networking services such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter.

Many celebrities post selfies for their followers to become more popular. The social networks offer a number of tricks for snapping amazing selfies every time.

However there are two sides to the coin. Scientists and psychologies around the world say that certain selfie-taking behaviors might mean that you can be mentally-ill. This can also indicate the lack of self-esteem. Also, duck face was linked to neuroticism and emotional instability.

So your selfie may reveal a lot about you.
