Baku, Ankara to hold consultations on Crimea

Turkish Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan will hold political consultations on Crimea with Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan

Erdogan said Ankara will also continue the negotiations with Russia on the developments in Ukraine and the referendum in Crimea, Haber7 TV channel reported on March 17.

Turkey urges Russia to respect the territorial integrity of neighboring countries, Turkish Foreign Minister, Ahmet Davutoglu said ealier. "Moscow pursues a self-willed policy in the region," he said.

Regarding the results of the referendum held in Crimea on March 16, Davutoglu said that it is unacceptable to promote similar actions in the region.

Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry earlier announced that Baku stands for preservation of Ukraine's territorial integrity.

On February 26 several thousand people gathered in front of Supreme Council of Crimea. After the escalation of the protests in Crimea, the Federation Council supported Russian President Vladimir Putin's appeal regarding the use of the Russian armed forces in Ukraine pending "the normalization of the socio-political situation in that country".

The Crimean parliament made a decision on joining Russia on March 6. The deputies also voted for the referendum on the status of the peninsula on March 16.

Upon the results of processing of 75 percent protocols from the polling stations after referendum on the future of Crimea, the percentage of voters who supported Crimea's reunification with Russia stands at 95.7 percent.
