OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Austria’s Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will mull the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement in Moscow, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova said during a briefing on January 12.

The talks will take place as part of the OSCE chair’s official visit to Moscow on January 17-18.

Kurz and Lavrov will exchange views on the Austria’s OSCE chairmanship in 2017 and discuss cooperation on this platform taking into consideration the challenges connected with regional conflicts, Zakharova said.

Armenia broke out a lengthy war against Azerbaijan laying territorial claims on its South Caucasus neighbor. Since a war in the early 1990s, Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan's territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding regions. More than 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed and over 1 million were displaced as a result of the large-scale hostilities.

Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh and surrounding districts.
