An Azerbaijani cultural event will be held in Cologne, Germany on November 20.

The event is organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Azerbaijan`s Embassy to Germany.

It is part of the "Promotion of Azerbaijan" project realized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in a number of European countries.

This event will feature performance of the Azerbaijan State Camera Orchestra at the Gurzenich hall of Cologne, one of the largest economic and cultural centers in Germany.

Cologne, one of Germany's oldest cities, has played an important role in the history of Europe since the beginning of the Roman era.

The Orchestra will play works by Azerbaijani composers Uzeyir Hajibayov, Fikrat Amirov, Gara Garayev, Niyazi, Jovdat Hajiyev, Tofiq Guliyev, Rauf Hajiyev, and Alakbar Tagiyev.

The event will also feature a photo exhibition titled "Germany through the Eyes of an Artist", where 19 paintings will be put on display.

The concept of the photo exhibition is to present works of young artists, who have never been to Germany, with a creative thinking. As part of the project held since 2008, top three winners of the contest travel to Germany, visit galleries and museums in Berlin, and attend master classes of famous German artists each year.

Photos reflecting the life of Germans in Azerbaijan since the 19th century will be showcased in a separate stand at the exhibition.

The photos show the activity and lifestyle of thousands of Germans, including Siemens brothers, who have built a copper smelter in the Gadabay region of Azerbaijan, the largest and most modern copper smelter in Europe.

Earlier in November, the evening of Azerbaijan organized in Stuttgart also featured Azerbaijani music, and Azerbaijan's cuisine was presented to the guests at the event.

The Foundation plans to hold a number of events to promote Azerbaijani culture in Germany.

In October, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation also started a new project to further Azerbaijan's popularity in Italy.

The Foundation also held a number of other cultural events aimed at promoting Azerbaijan's culture earlier in France.
