YARAT! Contemporary Art Space, an organization promoting Azerbaijani modern art worldwide, has demonstrated a new set of art pieces in the frame of the Participate Baku Public Art Festival 2013 on June 15.

The festival is sponsored by Bank Respublika.

The audience enjoyed the artwork called "Tell me your secret" by emerging Azerbaijani artist Afat Baghirova.

Some ten artists from Azerbaijan, Russia, Georgia, Britain, Portugal, and the Netherlands created their projects especially for the festival under the principle of interactivity.

In the summer and early fall this year, Baku residents and visitors may avail of an opportunity to attend three more exciting project presentations; some projects will definitely boggle the imagination of the viewers by their dimension.

The projects chiefly focus on the daily challenges of Baku residents. Afat calls the presentation attendees to narrate their privacy to a gigantic ear on the conditions of anonymity as well as listen to others' secrets, putting the earphones on.

The artist's work strongly demonstrates a resemblance to a reconciliation room. An enormous ear created by Afat Baghirova records your story, while earphones allow you to listen to other people's previously recorded confession. The author longs for making us freer. Once we learn others' secrets and narrate our own mysteries, our openness capacity is increased.

The artwork is specifically and culturally linked to Oriental cities, because there people are inclined to make the rounds and are used to disperse news in an undertone.

YARAT! Contemporary Art Space, founded in 2011 by Aida Mahmudova, and based in Baku, is realizing its mission through an ongoing program of exhibitions, education events, and festivals. It facilitates dialogue and exchange between local and international artistic networks, including foundations, galleries and museums.
