The US ambassador to Armenia, Kristina Kvien, reportedly said that the US was positive about the inclusion of Karabakh in Azerbaijan's jurisprudence. Such talk has been expressed in the Armenian media before. This, however, has always attracted protests both in and outside of Armenia, and following the words of the Ambassador in Armenia, David Babayan, presidential adviser to the so-called Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) president, was critical of her words, citing the annexation of China with Taiwan, speaking about the loosening of some value systems, power structures in America, and its past wars.

The parties have made efforts to resolve the post-conflict situation in the region, but as a result of recent events, provocations of Azerbaijan by Armenia and its allies around the world continue. Why is Armenia ignoring the advice of the world states in the peaceful resolution of this conflict?

"The actions taken by Armenia so far are due to the fact that it has no arbitrary political power in its hands. Armenia's dependence on several poles leads to what we have today," said political analyst Samir Humbatov in an interview with AZERNEWS.

According to the pundit, Armenia is subject to the influence of Russia, France, and Iran, and on the other hand, other forces.

"There are even elements of pressure on Armenia from within the US. All this in fact pushes Armenia today towards a non-constructive position. There are enough opportunities for Azerbaijan, and it is a winner of the war. This increases the capabilities and the power of the country, which is in its hands. However, since Armenia has no such opportunities, it is dependent on other centers of power. The current situation in Armenia is made up of this. I think that this dependence on Armenia is forcing it to take a non-constructive stance. They seem to be delighted with the situation that they are in. If this continues, Armenia will have to face big consequences. In any case, Azerbaijan's position is clear," the political analyst said.

According to Humbatov, Armenia has lost almost all its opportunities to make ridiculous claims and similar actions against Azerbaijan. "The country has lost Karabakh that had once occupied, it has lost communications, its economy is under siege, and it has lost a large number of troops and ammunition. Because of this, Armenia is in a very difficult position," he stressed.

The pundit called Armenia's actions a blackmail. "What Armenia is doing today is a political blackmail. It is trying to secure itself through this. But this is the wrong step because by introducing such approaches, states can only lose their prestige and political weight. In addition to blackmails, Armenia also wants to buy time, which is why it is avoiding any negotiations. These reasons are behind the fact that the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan is sometimes recognized by the world and sometimes not," he opined.

Samir Humbatov also pointed out some factors making Azerbaijan important to the USA.

"Azerbaijan is considered quite an important country for Washington. Because Azerbaijan is a country of great importance in the Caspian Sea, with underground and onshore natural resources, rich deposits of hydrocarbons, and generally, energy resources. Not only the US, but all Western countries know this. Given the Russian-Ukrainian war has prevented Russia from selling energy to the West, it is even more important nowadays. So now there is an energy crisis in the West. It is important for the United States to keep the European Union in its hands. For this, the US has to pay for Western guarantees of energy and military securities, and economic issues.

According to the pundit, the second important factor is the geopolitical and geostrategic location of Azerbaijan.

"Today, Azerbaijan is located right at the centre of the East-West, North-South transport corridor, as well as in the very heart of Eurasia. I think, at this moment, the special significance and cooperation of the USA with Azerbaijan is important precisely in terms of its future strategic interests. It can be characterized as protection of Azerbaijan's interests in the region, as well as protection of US interests," Humbatov underlined.
