Armenia disappointing agricultural goods importers
By Victoria Moiseyeva
Armenia has tarnished its image as a main goods exporter across the globe with some countries voicing discontent with the quality of imported goods from the country.
Armenia's inability to meet the necessary quality standards have upset the importers, making them review their future cooperation with the post-Soviet state.
Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan strictly blamed the Chief of the State Service for Food Safety and member of the Republican Party, Abram Bahchagulyan at his recent meeting with entrepreneurs and experts.
Some surveys showed that the quality of exported goods fell short of necessary quality standards.
Nevertheless, Abrahamyan does not plan to dismiss Bahchagulyan, Armenian newspaper Graparak reported.
Meanwhile, the Central Bank of Armenia has reduced its forecast for economic growth in the country this year. It clearly shows that Armenia is not able to overcome its internal problems.
Armenia's economy will increase by 3.9 percent this year, according to the forecast, although the government has put the figure at 5 percent in its 2014 economic program.
The Central Bank explains the reduction of economic growth in the country with the "negative consequences of economic development in Russia - the largest trade and investment partner of Armenia."
Also the Central Bank expects a significant slowdown in money transfers from Russia to Armenia.
