The Russian Information and Cultural Center in Baku will open Easter Charity Bazaar, Trend Life reports.

The sixth charity Easter Bazaar will be held in Baku on April 21 (15:00-18:00) and 22 (11:00-17:00).

The event is co-organized by the Russian Embassy in the country, as well as the Russian cooperation center in Azerbaijan and Baku-Azerbaijan eparchy of the Russian Orthodox Church.

The charity includes a wide range of events. Visitors can buy Eastern sets, handmade jewelries, colorful Azerbaijani scarves, the products of Azerbaijan's masters of painting and woodcarving, natural church honey, and, certainly, Easter cakes at the fair.

The event program also includes a charity lottery. All money from the charity Easter bazaar will be directed to the needs of orphans.

Easter celebrates the Christian belief of Jesus Christ's resurrection, which is observed in March or April.

Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday following the first full moon which is on or after March 21st.

The Sunday before Easter is Palm Sunday and the last three days are Maundy Thursday or Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday. Many churches hold special services on Easter Sunday.

The coloring of eggs is an established art and eggs are often dyed, painted and otherwise decorated on this holiday. For Christians the egg is a symbol of Jesus' resurrection.

Azerbaijan enjoys a tolerant atmosphere for different nations and religions. The national policy is defined on the principles of tolerance and coexistence of various nationalities, ethnic groups and religious minorities. Many religious confessions co-exist there. There are 1,834 mosques, 12 churches and 6 synagogues functioning in Azerbaijan.

The government has created all conditions for religious worship in the country.
