London moviegoers to enjoy best Azeri films
London's movie fans will be introduced to some of the most acclaimed Azerbaijani feature films and documentaries during the annual Azerbaijan London Film Festival (ALOFF), due November 1-4.
During screenings at the Shortwave Cinema and School for African and Oriental Studies (SOAS), University of London, ALOFF will present UK premieres of the best recent Azerbaijani films. Several of these have received awards at numerous national and international film festivals, including the Asia Pacific Screen Award in Australia and Grand Prix Award at the Cape Winelands Film Festival in South Africa.
Running alongside the festival will be an art exhibition by Naile Zulfuqarova, a young Azerbaijani artist who is resident in the UK.
ALOFF opens an intercultural platform for established and new Azerbaijani filmmakers to share and promote their work to an international audience, forging a partnership between the UK and Azerbaijani film industries.
The festival is being organized by the Azerbaijan Intercultural Society (AZICS), with the support of the European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS) and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan.
