Georgia seeks U.S. support

Georgian Defense Minister Tinatin Khidasheli has voiced hope that the U.S. will support Georgia at the Warsaw summit of NATO.
The Georgian government has repeatedly stated that they hope to receive the Action Plan for NATO membership at the alliance summit that will be held in Warsaw in July 2016.
"We enjoy full bipartisan support. Both Democrats and Republicans have met us with equal enthusiasm. I am sure that on the way to Warsaw [the NATO summit], this support will be expressed in political documents and acts adopted by the Congress," the minister said following a series of meetings with American congressmen.
NATO and Georgia enjoy good friendly relations, being intertwined via Tbilisi's irreversible aspiration for an alliance membership and NATO's positive feedback in this regard.
Few countries in the Euro-Atlantic region expressed as much enthusiasm for NATO as Georgia, despite its non-NATO status. Building solid relations with NATO is of great significance for Georgia, the aspirant country that seeks a membership at the military bloc.
