A meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Georgian Counterpart Giorgi Margvelashvili is possible, said Sergey Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister.

He said President Putin has already expressed his position on this issue.

"Nothing is impossible in this world. I think President Putin has already answered the question about meeting, saying Russia can find a possibility to meet if there is any necessity and interest," Lavrov noted.

Meanwhile, Senior Deputy of the Georgian Foreign Minister David Dondua said the continuation of the Geneva format of talks with Russia was advancement.

Geneva International Discussions was first held in 2008 based on agreements reached after the war in Georgia, in August 2008.

"We use that format to acutely raise the issue about the so-called treaty and hear the opinions of Russia and Abkhazia on it. The process is going so hard that just arrangement and continuation of the round of talks are success," Dondua said at the OSCE Ministerial Council in Basel.

The 30th round of the Geneva talks will be held on December 9- 10, where the Georgian delegation will be headed by Dondua.

The Georgian president has earlier said Moscow should get a clear signal for launching constructive talks under Geneva format. He noted that Georgia accepts the Geneva format as only way for humanitarian and security discussions with Russia.

Georgian armed forces launched military actions in the territory of its South Ossetia region on August 8, 2008. They clashed with Russian military troops and were forced to leave the region. Russia recognized the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia in late August. Tbilisi strictly condemned Russia's actions and broke off diplomatic relations with Moscow to recognize Abkazia and South Ossetia as occupied territories.
