Petrol prices rise by 20pct in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan's Cabinet of Ministers has increased retail petrol prices by 20 percent as of January 10.
The Finance Ministry of Uzbekistan has approved the new prices.
On January 1, 2014, Uzbekistan increased fuel prices due to a rise in tax for individuals on fuel consumption.
Experts note that the sharp increase in prices of petroleum products will automatically lead to rise in prices for all goods and services.
The selling price on a liter of Ai-80 petrol increased by 20.05 percent and amounted to 2,005 soums against 1,670 soums, while Ai-91 increased by 20.43 percent amounting to 1,835 soums against to 2,210 soums and Ai-95 - by 20.54 percent, or from 2,020 soums to 2,435 soums.
Selling prices of petrol include tax on individuals for consumption of gasoline and diesel fuel for vehicles, which amount to 1, 265 soums per liter from January.
Last time retail petrol prices rose by 10 percent in August 2011.
Uzbekistan reduced production of liquid hydrocarbons by 11.6 percent - up to 3.165 million tons, including oil production - by 17.4 percent to 1.561 million tons, gas condensate - by 5.6 percent - to 1.604 million tons in 2012 compared to 2011.
Petrol production decreased by 6.3 percent - to 1,226 million tons in 2012.
The official exchange rate is 2.203.22 soums/$1 on January 10.
