Georgian president opens new cableway and ski run in Adjara
Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has opened new cableway
and 1800-meter ski run in Adjara, Trend news agency reported.
The development of the tourist area in the mountainous region of
Adjara began before the parliamentary elections, and the first
phase of the work has been completed, a source in the country's
presidential administration told Trend on Wednesday.
Mikheil Saakashvili, together with Levan Varshalomidze, MP from
Khulo Anzor Bolkvadze and the ski school students were the first
cableway passengers.
The president said that the implementation of such infrastructure
projects is important for the country.
According to him, the development of a new resort is vitally
important to the region because it will have an impact on the
development of the tourist potential of high-Adjara, create jobs
and make it the most attractive resort in Georgia.
Saakashvili said that such projects started before the change of
government in the country should be continued.
He expressed hope that the new government will allocate necessary
funds for completion of its construction projects.
