Sales of iPhone 16 banned in Indonesia
By Alimat Aliyeva
Indonesia has blocked sales of iPhone 16 smartphones due to the fact that the local division of the company - PT Apple Indonesia - did not comply with the requirements regarding investments in the country. The ban applies to sales of the iPhone 16 domestically and does not apply to devices purchased abroad, Azernews reports.
It is noted that PT Apple Indonesia must make investments in the amount of 1.71 trillion Indonesian rupees ($108.7 million) to obtain a license to sell the iPhone 16 in the country. Currently, their volume is below the required figure by 240 billion rupees.
In accordance with the policy of the Indonesian authorities aimed at supporting local industry and reducing dependence on imports, foreign companies need to comply with the requirements regarding the use of products and services within the country. This can be done in various ways, including through investments or hiring local staff.
