Political consultations on the level of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tajikistan were held in the Turkmenistan Foreign Affairs Ministry on Oct. 31, 2019, Trend reports referring to the Turkmen ministry.
The Turkmen side was headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, while the Tajik side was headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin.
The parties highly appraised the current standpoint of bilateral ties based on mutual respect and trust. It was noted that the consistent organization of high-level visits contributes to further strengthening of Turkmen-Tajik relations on the whole range of cooperation. The resemblance of external policy resolutions aimed at the maintenance of stability, economic growth and security in the region was underlined.
The agenda also consisted of such key subjects as the collaboration in the framework of international organizations, perfecting the contractual-legal base of cooperation, expansion of trade-economic ties and resolution of water issues, as well as the transport connections between the two countries.
Positive experience of cooperation in the framework of the UN, CIS and Non-alignment Movement was noted. The success of the chairmanship of Turkmenistan in the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea which will soon be passed to the Republic of Tajikistan was noted.
In this regard, the parties expressed the readiness to cooperate by underlining the responsible approach of the leadership of Turkmenistan to the resolution of water issues and protection of ecology. The diplomats also spoke about the closeness of inherent historical values and further development of cultural-humanitarian collaboration.
In the end of the meeting, the parties underlined the significance of continuing the dialogue established at various levels for further diversification of fruitful cooperation which meets the mutual interests.
