State Committee says imported gasoline meet Euro-4 standard

By Aynur Jafarova

The Premium Euro-95 and Super Euro-98 gasoline types imported to Azerbaijan meet the Euro-4 standard, chairman of the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patent Ramiz Hasanov told journalists on April 9.

He said it was revealed through the analysis of samples of these gasoline types, carried out by the State Committee.

Hasanov noted that AI-92 gasoline which is produced in the country meets all standards as well.

Azerbaijan started sale of the Premium Euro-95 gasoline in early April. This kind of gasoline is sold at 0.93 manat.

The Cabinet of Ministers reduced the customs and excise duties for importing this gasoline at lower prices. This makes it possible to import Premium Euro-95 and Super Euro-98 gasoline at low prices and sell them at free market prices.

The decision on applying the Euro-4 ecological standard is related to the growth of car imports to the country which negatively affects the environment and public health.

Around 100,000 cars were imported into the country, over 50,000 of which were used cars. These figures were equal to 64,000 and 27,000 respectively in 2011.
