Turkmen reps study Chevron’s capabilities in U.S.

A Turkmen delegation has familiarized with Chevron's capabilities in designing, drilling operations and monitoring at difficult wells using sophisticated methods to see three-dimensional geological models of the target object in Houston, the Turkmen Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources said on Tuesday.

According to the information, Chevron, expecting the long-term cooperation with Turkmenistan, familiarizes local specialists with the technologies and expertise when working on seismic imaging, drilling through salt deposits and exploitation of fields in terms of high-pressure, high-temperature, high hydrogen sulfide.

WellDECC was demonstrated for Turkmen specialists. One could watch the process of drilling a well in real time there.

Moreover, Chevron's experts presented the work to determine the rock mechanics and predicting vapor pressure. They conducted workshops on project governance and on "Work with the oil and gas reservoirs of the lower horizons".

The field workshop was organized within the event to examine carbonate sediments. There was an opportunity to explore the relations between facies and geometry sequence of sedimentation in different sedimentary conditions.

The U.S. presidential administration has been conducting a policy of close rapprochement with Turkmenistan. The political consultations have been regularly conducted. Washington actively supports transportation of Turkmen gas to new markets, particularly to Europe through the Caspian Sea and to India and Pakistan through Afghanistan.

Besides Chevron, ExxonMobil, Jeneral Electric, Case and others have opened their offices in the country. It was previously reported that Chevron has expressed interest in gas pipeline project Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI). It holds the negotiations to prepare the Production Sharing Agreement in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea upon Ashgabat's proposal.
