Azerbaijan and China have discussed cooperation in the energy sector, AzerNEWS reports.

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov shared this information on his X account.

"At the meeting with Ms Lu Mei, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Azerbaijan, we discussed energy cooperation between the two countries. We exchanged views on the participation of Chinese companies in Azerbaijan’s domestic and international initiatives, including projects in the field of green energy," the post reads.

It should be noted that the energy sector is one of the key areas of cooperation between Azerbaijan and China. Energy cooperation is no longer limited to investment projects but is also becoming one of the key pillars of Azerbaijan’s sustainable development strategy.

It can now be said that Azerbaijan-China energy cooperation has moved beyond the traditional energy sector and entered a new phase focused on the green transition. This is in line with both Azerbaijan’s climate targets for 2030 and 2050 and China’s strategy of promoting the global export of green technologies.

Projects such as the Khizi-Absheron Wind Power Plant and the Gobustan Solar Power Plant demonstrate that Chinese companies are playing a role not only as contractors but also as technology and financial partners in Azerbaijan’s renewable energy development.
