Azerbaijani President holds several meetings

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received Foreign Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zlatko Lagumdzija on June 10, AzerTac state news agency reported.

President Ilham Aliyev praised development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

President Aliyev recalled a visit of chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bakir Izetbegovic to Azerbaijan and discussions on expansion of the bilateral cooperation during his visit.

The President expressed hope that the Bosnian FM`s visit to Azerbaijan would contribute to enhancing the relationship between the two countries even further.

Zlatko Lagumdzija thanked President Aliyev for Azerbaijan`s supporting Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Bosnian FM noted the two countries had good relations before the years of independence, adding there are ample opportunities to develop these ties.

President Ilham Aliyev received also Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei, AzerTac reported.

Vladimir Makei hailed development of the Azerbaijani capital. He underlined the significance of his visit in terms of discussing the cooperation between the two countries. Saying that the visit coincides with the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Belarus, Vladimir Makei presented a congratulatory letter of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko to the Azerbaijani leader.

President Aliyev stressed the development of the Azerbaijan-Belarus relations in all fields, especially in the political and economic areas. The President underlined the importance of high level reciprocal visits in terms of strengthening the relations between the two countries.

The Azerbaijani President expressed his gratitude for the congratulatory letter of the Belarus President.

On the same day, President Ilham Aliyev met a delegation led by Foreign Minister of Bangladesh Dipu Moni, AzerTac reported.

The Bangladeshi FM conveyed President Abdul Hamid`s and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Vazed`s greetings to the Head of State.

Mrs. Dipu Moni said relations between the two countries` peoples had ancient history, noting there are good opportunities for expansion of these ties.

President Aliyev praised political relationship between Azerbaijan and Bangladesh, stressing the importance of developing the economic cooperation and conducting joint projects.

The President expressed hope that the Bangladeshi minister`s visit to Azerbaijan would contribute to developing the bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The Azerbaijani President asked Dipu Moni to pass on his greetings to the Bangladeshi President and the Prime Minister.

President Ilham Aliyev received a Georgian delegation led by Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees Davit Darakhvelidze.

The Azerbaijani President offered condolences to the Georgian leadership and people over the tragic death of Georgian soldiers in Afghanistan.

Georgian Minister Darakhvelidze expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani President for his condolences.

The Minister conveyed greetings of Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili to the Head of State. He said the Georgian Prime Minister highly appreciated good will and sincere attitude of President Ilham Aliyev towards Georgia and its people.

Davit Darakhvelidze said the Georgian PM also praised Azerbaijan`s accomplishments in past years, as well as President Aliyev`s efforts to improve welfare of the Azerbaijani people, particularly to raise the living standard of refugees and IDPs. He said Georgia wished to benefit from Azerbaijan`s experience in tackling problems of refugees and IDPs.

President Ilham Aliyev recalled Bidzina Ivanishvili`s visit to Azerbaijan, saying it saw very fruitful discussions regarding the current state of and prospects for friendship and fraternal relations, strategic partnership ties between the two nations.

President Aliyev said Azerbaijan considered solving problems of refugees and IDPs as a priority. The Head of State said Azerbaijan enjoyed good experience in this field, adding the country did a lot to improve living condition of refugees and IDPs, as well as to promote their integration into the society. The Azerbaijani leader pointed out that international organizations praised the government`s endeavors in this regard.

The Head of State thanked for greetings and best wishes of Georgian PM Bidzina Ivanishvili, and asked to convey his greetings to Ivanishvili as well.

President Aliyev also received Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs of Morocco Ahmed Al Tawfiq on June 10, AzerTac reported.

The Head of State praised bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Morocco.

Hailing political ties between the two countries, President Ilham Aliyev stressed the importance of mutual support within international organizations.

The Azerbaijani leader underlined the significance of reciprocal visits in terms of development of the bilateral relationship.

The President expressed hope that the Moroccan Minister`s visit to Azerbaijan would be fruitful.

Mr. Ahmed Al Tawfiq conveyed greetings of King of Morocco Mohammed VI to the Head of State.

During the meeting, they also discussed development of the bilateral relations in economic, tourism, cultural and humanitarian fields.

The Azerbaijani President asked Minister Ahmed Al Tawfiq to pass on his greetings to the Moroccan King.

President Ilham Aliyev also received Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Palestine Riad Malki, AzerTac reported.

The Head of State said Azerbaijan and the State of Palestine enjoyed active cooperation. The Azerbaijani President praised the bilateral political relations, noting the two countries have good potential for development of economic cooperation. The Azerbaijani leader added that business investment opportunities were being explored.

President Ilham Aliyev recalled the visit by President of the State of Palestine Mahmud Abbas to Azerbaijan, saying the visit created good opportunities to discuss how to bolster cooperation.

The President pointed out that the people of Azerbaijan and Palestine enjoyed friendly ties, saying Azerbaijan always supported initiatives concerning Palestine in international organizations, including the United Nations.

Palestinian Foreign Minister Malki thanked the Azerbaijani President for his intention to expand the cooperation with his country.

Minister Malki handed over Mahmud Abbas`s letter to the Head of State. He said that in his letter, the President of Palestine offered his greetings to the Azerbaijani leader and thanked the country for supporting Palestine in the General Assembly of the United Nations to grant Palestine 'Non-Member Observer State' Status in the organization.

President Aliyev thanked for Mahmud Abbas`s letter, and asked the FM to convey his greetings to the Head of the State of Palestine.
