Azerbaijan, for the first time took part in the 7th International Festival of National Cuisine in Australia on November 19.

The festival was organized by the consular corps accredited in Australia, Trend Life reported.

Honorable Consulate of Azerbaijan in Australia Aydan Rzayeva said that national pavilion was prepared by the consulate, the Azerbaijan-Australia Friendship Society and compatriots residing in Australia. The festival's guests enjoyed Azerbaijan's national dishes as well as mesmerized by an interesting cultural program.

The event itself was organized on the territory of the official residence of the Governor of Western Australia. Her Excellency the Honourable Kerry Anderson, AC Governor of Western Australia highly appreciated national pavilion.

All funds collected in the pavilion of Azerbaijan will be transferred to the charity fund "Girls Academy".

The 7th International Festival of National Cuisine brought together participants from Azerbaijan, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, China, Colombia, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Greece, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Malaysia and other countries.

The Azerbaijani cuisine belongs to one of the most interesting cuisines in the world thanks to its originality and diversity. Some of its dishes were included in the menu of international cuisines and loved by every tourist visiting the country.

The majority of national dishes are mutton, beef, poultry, minced meat and surely fish. Pilaf with fragrant saffron, juicy kebab flavored with sumac, over 200 varieties of dolma, buglama and levengi – fish dishes, , shekerbura and pakhlava - sweets , a table overladen with fresh fruits and vegetables and fruit juices – all these are various and original Azerbaijani food.

Some Azerbaijani dishes are cooked in special utensils: piti soup is prepared in clay pots, pilaf - in special boilers with a thick bottom (kazan), kebab is planked on special skewers. More than 2,000 recopies are known in the national cuisine.

Sweets in Azerbaijan also have their own specific features. It is impossible to imagine a festive table without pakhlava, shorgogal, shekerbura, kyulcha, tikhma. There are over 30 varieties of sweets: each area has its special kind.
