Hostage saboteur denies his Armenian citizenship

An Armenian saboteur taken hostage by the Azerbaijani soldiers on the contact line has decided to stay in Azerbaijan and accept its citizenship.

Elchin Behbudov, Head of the Committee against Torture met with the captured Armenian saboteur, who is in Azerbaijan since his capture last December.

"Arsen Bagdasaryan has no complains about conditions of his detention. He spoke about the harsh living conditions in Armenia and expressed his desire to accept the citizenship of Azerbaijan," said Behbudov.

The Azerbaijani armed forces took Bagdasaryan hostage in December 27 last year while a sabotage operation by the Armenian forces was foiled, inflicting huge losses on the enemy.

Bagdasaryan's refusal to be repatriated to his native land could also be explained with a notorious procedure of interrogation waiting for him in Armenia. The Armenian special forces reportedly torture the repatriated Armenian citizens in an effort to urge them talk against Azerbaijan.

For instance, Gevorgyans, a deserter family who fled to Azerbaijan four years ago with the aim of being delivered to a third country was returned to Armenia last year and was deliberately used for Armenia's dirty propaganda against Azerbaijan.

Despite the results of a medical examination in Armenia reaffirming the healthy condition of the family's members, they blamed Azerbaijan for harsh treatment of them, being under threats and physical and psychological pressures by the Armenian special forces.

Moreover, the Armenian army is facing frequent non-combat deaths and the government spares no effort to hide the facts instead of instructing the relevant bodies to launch an investigation into them.

Local media has repeatedly reported that the massive poisoning, careless use of weapons, as well as different virus and infection diseases and chronic illnesses are triggering further murder cases in the Armenian army's units. Even the army officers are reportedly killing the soldiers who show unwillingness to obey their illegal orders.

Parents of the Armenian soldiers, who died in non-combat accidents, staged numerous protest rallies in front of the presidential palace in Yerevan, urging the government to hold liable those killing their innocent children.
