Kazakhstan and UK will sign several memorandums during the first meeting of UK-Kazakhstan intergovernmental commission in Astana.

UK Minister of State for Trade and Investment Lord Livingston will visit Kazakhstan on November 5-6 attend the meeting of the intergovernmental commission, the UK embassy in Kazakhstan reported.

During his first visit to Kazakhstan, Livingston will be accompanied by Professor Charles Hendry, Trade Envoy of UK Prime Minister to Kazakhstan, David Wootton, as well as a delegation of UK business representatives.

"The main purpose of this visit is to participate at the first historical meeting of the UK-Kazakhstan intergovernmental commission in Astana," the embassy said.

During the visit, Livingston will hold meetings with senior government officials and business representatives of Kazakhstan.

The proposal on creating the intergovernmental commission was put forward during the meeting of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev with UK Prime Minister David Cameron during his first visit to Kazakhstan in 2013.

The intergovernmental commission aims to ensure a high-level dialogue for strengthening the business ties between UK and Kazakhstan in such sectors as education, science, innovations, energy and culture.

Representatives from 30 UK companies will visit Kazakhstan to meet with their Kazakh partners in 2014 as part of the commission's meeting.

Additionally, round tables will be organized as a platform for the direct dialogue between the UK and Kazakh business representatives.
