South Korea and Indonesia boost economic cooperation
by Alimat Aliyeva
South Korea and Indonesia have signed 10 memorandums of understanding to strengthen economic ties following high-level talks, AzerNEWS reports.
The presidents of South Korea, Lee Jae-myung, and Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, agreed to expand cooperation in areas such as the extraction of critical minerals, advanced technologies, and artificial intelligence.
Additional agreements cover collaboration in renewable and nuclear energy, as well as the joint development of carbon capture and storage technologies.
“Indonesia has become the first foreign platform for Korean companies and is now an invaluable partner in our defense industry,” said Lee Jae-myung.
Subianto highlighted the importance of bilateral ties amid growing global instability, expressing confidence that the two nations would complement each other as partners with shared interests.
Analysts note that these agreements could position Indonesia as a key hub for South Korean investment in Southeast Asia, potentially boosting local innovation and creating new opportunities in green technology and high-tech industries.
