Azerbaijani students to study human rights from school

The Association of Lawyers of Azerbaijan reported that a teacher edition on teaching of human rights in the secondary schools will be published in Azerbaijan, local media reports.

The project on "Human Rights Education in Secondary Schools" will be realized from October 2013 to March 2014 and will be financed by the Azerbaijan Youth Foundation, acting under the Azerbaijani President, and the Association of Young Lawyers.

"The main goal of the project is to promote among the students the culture and the concepts of human rights. Three-day training sessions on human rights education in secondary schools will be organized for teachers, psychologists, and heads of children's associations (25 persons) as part of the project in the schools of Baku, Mingachevir and Yevlakh," the association reported.

The project also includes the publication of a teacher edition on teaching a human rights subject in the secondary schools. Training of 75 young teachers and distribution of 1,000 manuals will be conducted within the project.
