The Turkic World Publishing Congress has gathered 140 representatives from the publishing sector across 10 countries to enhance stronger cultural, literary, and professional connections throughout the Turkic world, AzerNEWS reports.

Hosted by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Ankara, officially designated as the 2026 Turkic World Tourism Capital, the congress brought together representatives and stakeholders from Turkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Hungary, Moldova, Iran, Iraq, and Germany.

The opening ceremony was attended by Gökhan Yazgı, Turkish Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism.

In their remarks, speakers stressed the importance of expanding cooperation in the publishing field among Turkic countries, noting that publishing activities based on shared history, language, and cultural heritage provide stronger international ties and mutual understanding.

Representing the Azerbaijan National Library, Deputy Director for Scientific Work and Library-Information Services Adiba Ismayilova delivered a presentation titled "Shared Heritage, Shared Future: National Libraries of Turkic-Speaking Countries."

In her speech, she emphasized the rich cultural heritage developed over millennia in the Turkic world and outlined the responsibilities of national libraries in preserving this legacy for future generations.

The congress also featured discussions on the development of the publishing ecosystem within the Turkic world, highlighting strategies to enhance cooperation, innovation, and cultural exchange among the region's publishers.

The event provided a rare opportunity for experts to build long‑term professional partnerships, exchange ideas, and explore innovative approaches to publishing that reflect the rich literary traditions of Turkic nations.

The discussions centered on six main topics: the structure of the publishing sector; copyright regulations and legal frameworks; development of content; issues related to a common alphabet and language; publishing standards and legal deposit requirements; and support for translation initiatives.
