Azerbaijani companies offered to invest in Germany

A meeting of the Azerbaijani-German high-level group on trade and investment, organized by the Ministry of Economic Development, was held in Baku Business Center on Tuesday.

The German side invited Azerbaijani companies to invest during the discussions, which included ways of increasing trade and investment opportunities between the two countries.

The second meeting was attended by Azerbaijani and German government representatives in the working group, the ministry told Trend news agency.

The head of administration at the Ministry of Economic Development, co-chairman of the working group, Samir Veliyev, noted that relations between Azerbaijan and Germany are based on mutual cooperation. According to him, high-level official visits, negotiations, signed documents, including business forums and business meetings, have significance in the development of contacts.

The German co-chairman of the taskforce, Deputy Minister of Economy and Technology Karl-Ernst Brauner, in turn, noted the importance of the issues discussed during the second meeting of the Azerbaijani-German working group for the development of economic and trade relations between Germany and Azerbaijan.

Participants noted that the turnover with Germany increased by 2.2 times compared to 2010 and this growth dynamics continued in January-September 2012.

Discussions also covered such issues as increasing staff qualifications in ICT, agriculture, tourism, health, energy, business management, etc.

Information was provided on the measures taken toward establishment of Sumgayit chemical industry and Balakhani industrial parks near the capital Baku.
