Georgia seeks to head European Energy Charter

Georgian Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze met with Secretary General of the European Energy Charter Urban Rusnak.

The two sides discussed the issues of power transition in the region, strengthening relations between the member-states of the charter, the direction of investments and future prospects, the Georgian Energy Ministry reported.

Georgia expressed a desire to become the country chairing in the European Energy Charter in 2015. Georgia will host an annual conference of the charter in November 2015 as part of the chairmanship.

Georgia has been a charter member since 1995. Currently, the charter brings together more than 50 countries in Europe and Asia.

Urban Rusnak also met with Deputy Ministers of Energy, Deputy Foreign Ministers, representatives of energy companies and chairman of the National Energy Regulatory Commission.
