Georgia starts construction of new HPP

Georgian Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze, representatives of the government and energy companies attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the Kintrishi hydro power plant (HPP).
The HPP will be built on the Kintrishi River (Adjara) in Georgia's Kobuleti district by the Hydro Development Company.
The installed capacity of the HPP is six megawatts and its annual capacity will be equal to 38 million kilowatt hours.
The construction of the Kintrishi HPP will be completed in autumn of 2016. The estimated cost of the project exceeds 10 million euros.
The Kintrishi HPP consists of three main units: the main intake unit, a derivation tunnel with the length of 1,814 meters and the HPP building with modern European-style turbines.
The Kintrishi HPP will make a significant contribution to the district's social and economic development. Up to 100 people, including the local population will be employed during the construction period.
