Over 20,000 km gas pipelines constructed in Azerbaijan since 2009

Azerigas Production Association of Azerbaijan's State Oil Company SOCAR constructed 21,200 kilometers of gas pipelines in 2009-2013, SOCAR reported on July 23.

Out of the total constructed pipelines, 20.1 kilometers fell to regions, 916.2 kilometers was constructed in Baku and 182.7 kilometers fell to main gas pipelines.

In this period some 6,892.6 kilometers of gas pipelines were renovated. Some 3,899.6 kilometers out them were renovated in the capital Baku, while the rest in the regions and main gas pipelines.

In the first half-year, Azerigas constructed some 5,049.9 kilometers of gas pipelines and repaired 938.6 kilometers of pipelines.

Azerigas deals with gas transportation and distribution and gasifies some 1.5 million people in Azerbaijan. Azerigas gasified some 184 settlements of the country in 2012.

The gasification process will be fully completed in Azerbaijan in 2013. Until the end of this year, gasification will be increased to 95 percent compared to the current 80 percent.

SOCAR, the only producer of oil products in the country, includes Azneft production association, which runs onshore and offshore oil producing companies, Azerkimya production association, and Azerigas production association.
