UN Special Rapporteur on IDP rights to visit Azerbaijan

The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the human rights of internally displaced persons will pay visit to Azerbaijan.
Chaloka Beyani's visit will take place from 18 to 24 May, 2014.
The purpose of this visit is to examine the overall situation of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the country, the website of the UN Geneva office said.
Beyani will visit IDP settlements in Baku and Sumgayit.
Beyani said he will look at current challenges and opportunities for durable solutions for IDPs in Azerbaijan, and discuss the progress made with regard to their protection and assistance.
He will also meet with representatives from the government, United Nations partners and civil society.
Beyani will present preliminary observations at a press conference in Baku on May 23, 2014.
