The Azerbaijani musical comedy "The Cloth Peddler" (Arshin Mal Alan) will be performed at the Azerbaijan State Musical Theater on January 25.
Arshin Mal Alan is comic and romantic operetta created by the founder of Azerbaijani opera and classical music Uzeyir Hajibeyli.
The event is timed to the 80th anniversary of the birth of theater and prominent actress Ophelia Aslan, Trend Life reported.
Honored artists of Azerbaijan Azizaga Azizov, Nargiz Karimova, Akper Alizade, actors Samadzade Khasiyev, Guljahan Salamova, Ulviya Aliyeva, Mehriban Zaliyeva, Ruslan Mursalov will take part in the performance.
Before the show was staged, honored cultural worker Telly Panahgizi will talk about the work of Ophelia Aslan, who once played the role of Telly in the musical comedy.
Ophelia Aslan, was born on January 27, 1939, in Baku in the family of the famous Azerbaijani actor Rza Afganli.
Since 1963, she worked at the State Theater of Musical Comedy (now - the State Musical Theater). The actress began her creative work as an actress of the choir at the theater.
Aslan first got the role of Lala in the comedy "Durna". She worked in many prestigious theaters of Azerbaijan.
Even during the Soviet era, she appeared on the stage of the Moscow Operetta Theater in the play "Mom, I'm Marrying" (R. Hajiyev) as Bibikhanim.
She shared the same stage with the most famous Azerbaijani artists Nasiba Zeynalova, Gadjibaba Bagirov, Siyavush Aslan and others. Ophelia Aslan has played in such famous films as "Road incident", "Smile of Actress" and others. She was married to People's Artist of Azerbaijan Siyavush Aslan. The legendary actress died on May 18, 2010.
