Azerbaijan, Russia discuss bilateral co-op in human rights

Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan Elmira Suleymanova has met with Ombudsman of Russia Tatyana Moskalkova.

The meeting was held in Kazan city within the framework of Azerbaijani Ombudsman's visit to Tatarstan, Russia, Azerbaijan’s Office of the Ombudsman told Trend Aug. 13.

Suleymanova and Moskalkova discussed cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia in the field of human rights.

An exchange of views was also held on issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of human rights between the Institute of the Ombudsman in Azerbaijan and the relevant institutions of Russia and its subjects, their timely mutual informing about the cases of violation of rights of Azerbaijani citizens in Russia and Russian citizens in the territory of Azerbaijan, rendering assistance in restoration of violated rights within their mandate.

Russia’s Kazan city hosted the 19th meeting of the Board of Directors of the Asian Ombudsman Association. Ombudsmen from Russia, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, China, Japan, Korea, Pakistan, Iran, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan, as well as representatives of national human rights institutions took part in the event.
