Khamenei says high turnout at elections will guarantee Iran's further progress
Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has called
on the Iranian people to turn out in large numbers for the upcoming
presidential election, saying a high turnout will guarantee that
the country continues to make progress, IRIB reported.
The Supreme Leader made the remarks in Tehran on Wednesday during a
meeting with a number of teachers from across the country.
Khamenei emphasized the role of teachers and students in
materializing the political and economic paths.
In his speech, Ayatollah Khamenei said that the people's
participation in the presidential election will consolidate the
foundation of the Islamic system.
Referring to progress of the Iranian nation after the victory of
the Islamic Revolution, he said that the world has admitted the
admirable progress during the past three decades.
Iran will hold the 11th presidential election on June 14.
The voters will select the successor of the current President
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is not able to participate in the
elections for the third term according to the country's
constitutional laws.
The president of Iran is elected for a four-year term in a national
election and the Guardian Council vets the candidates for
qualifications.
