Statoil presents Gas Value Chain
Norway's Statoil ASA presented Gas Value Chain at the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy on Thursday, the company reported, according to Trend news agency.
"We are proud to have been contributing to the development of the industry in Azerbaijan for 20 years now, and we would like to be instrumental in turning Azerbaijan into a leading energy player in the European gas market. Furthermore, assisting Azerbaijani industry and academia in several important areas, such as stimulating competence development, supplier identification, establishing joint-ventures and international cooperation are all of utmost importance to Statoil," said Trond Enge, Vice President of Statoil Azerbaijan, opening a one-day seminar on Gas Value Chain.
"The annual growth of demand in Europe being 2% and with
domestic production declining, Europe needs and is ready for
Azerbaijani gas. Statoil looks at Shah Deniz stage 2 project from a
pan-European perspective. As the second biggest exporter of gas to
Europe and the operator of about 8,000 kilometers of pipelines, we
would like to bring Azerbaijani gas to Europe along with the gas
from Norwegian Continental Shelf and North Africa", said Enge.
The seminar at the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy is organised as
part of the ongoing cooperation between the two organisations and
is held at a new campus of the Academy. The participants of the
seminar will be presented by Statoil's specialists on a series of
issues, covering the whole value chain from the development and
production of gas to its transportation and marketing.
Statoil entered Azerbaijan in 1992. It is the second largest
foreign investor in the country. Statoil has invested more than $5
billion and is a partner with 8,56 percent share in the oil
producing Azeri-Chiraq-Guneshli (ACG ) field, the Shah Deniz gas
field with $25,5 percent share, and the corresponding pipelines
Baku-Tblisi-Cheyhan (BTC) and South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP).
