Unexploded ammunitions neutralised in Azerbaijan

Some 2.143 million square metres of the Azerbaijani territory was cleared of mines and unexploded ammunitions in August 2013, the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) reported.
Around 928 unexploded ammunitions and 10 mines were found and neutralised. There were antitank mines and one antipersonnel mine amongst the last nine.
Some 484 sappers and 118 assistants, as well as six special vehicles searching for the mines and 36 mine detection dogs were involved in the mine clearing operations.
So far the agency has cleared 234.74 million square metres of land and 686,569 mines and unexploded ammunition were found and neutralised.
Mine clearing operations continue in the territories of Agdam, Agstafa, Agjabadi, Fizuli, Goranboy, Gabala, Tartar regions and the city of Ganjay. Operations are also underway in the Guzdek settlement in the Garadagh district of Baku.
No cases of mine and ammunition explosion were registered in August.
