Azerbaijani embassy does upmost to contribute to social life of Washington D.C - envoy
Azerbaijani Ambassador to the U.S. Elin Suleymanov has met Mayor of Washington D.C. Vincent Gray, AzerTag state news agency reported.
Speaking at the meeting, Suleymanov hailed the bilateral relations as successful and informed about the Azerbaijan-U.S. convention hosted by Baku this May.
He said the Azerbaijani capital city was successfully organizing high-profile international events, adding the country was preparing to host the first-ever European Games in 2015 and Islamic Solidarity Games in 2017.
Mr. Suleymanov said the Embassy was trying its best to contribute to social and cultural life of Washington D.C., noting the Embassy`s partnership with Anne Beers Elementary School under a program of the Washington Mayor`s Office.
He also provided an insight into what the Heydar Aliyev Foundation had been doing to support schools both in Azerbaijan and abroad, particularly the Foundation`s education grant to Montgomery County Public Schools.
Washington Mayor Gray invited the Azerbaijani Embassy to participate in environment-related projects implemented in the U.S. capital.
