Two U.S. mayors send congratulatory letters on Heydar Aliyev's 90th anniversary
Washington Mayor Vincent Gray and Mayor of Savannah (U.S. state of Georgia ) Edna Branch Jackson sent congratulatory letters in connection with the 90th Anniversary of Azerbaijani National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the Azerbaijani Embassy in the United States told Trend news agency on Friday.
According to the report, both letters stress the role of Heydar Aliyev in strengthening allied relations between Azerbaijan and the United States, including Azerbaijan's unconditional support to the U.S. after the events of Sept.11, 2001.
Edna Branch Jackson also highlighted the efforts of the Azerbaijani national leader in attracting the oil and gas resources of the Caspian Sea to ensure the energy security of Europe and maintain religious tolerance in an independent Azerbaijan.
Vincent Gray stressed the considerable development of Azerbaijan, which was achieved under the leadership of Heydar Aliyev.
