Over 1400 unexploded ordnance neutralised in January

Some 2.293 million square metres of Azerbaijani territory was cleared of mines in January, the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) told Trend news agency on Thursday.

As a result of the operations 1469 unexploded ammunition and eight antitank mines were found and neutralised.

Some 484 experts and 118 assistants, as well as six mechanical demining machines and 36 mine detection sniffer dogs participated in the operations.

So far the agency has cleared 216.585 million square metres of land and found and neutralised 677,639 mines and unexploded ammunition.

Mine clearing operations continue in the territories of Agdam, Agstafa, Agjabadi, Fizuli, Gazakh, Gedebey, Goygol, Goranboy, Tartar regions and in the areas adjacent to the Kirdag mud volcanoes in the Absheron region and in the Guzdek settlement in Garadagh district of Baku.
