ICT sector revenues jump
The total amount of income received from the mobile services in
the country, totaled 836.3 million manats for the period, which is
7.3 percent more than in January-November 2013, AzerTag state news
agency reported.
According to the State Committee on Statistics, some 57.2 percent
of the total earned income accounted for mobile services.
Over the past five years, the information technology sector of Azerbaijan has doubled. As figures show, revenues of the ICT sector in Azerbaijan increased by more than 12 percent in the nine months of 2014.
The total investment made in the development of information, communication and mail sector amounted to 62.5 million manats or 0.8 percent of the total investment in the country's economy in the first half of 2014.
Last year the country invested about 202.2 million manats (over $257 million) in the ICT sector and postal services. Investment in the development of the ICT sector in Azerbaijan is expected to reach $4 billion by 2020.
