Kazakhstan ups excise taxes
The Kazakh Parliament's lower chamber approved the bill amending
taxation issues on the second reading on October 23.
The amendments envisage increase in excise taxes on alcohol and
tobacco.
Moreover, the taxes on luxury goods including transport vehicles
and property will be increased.
The bill also raises tax rates on lands that have not been
developed for a certain period after they were granted.
Earlier, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev ordered that taxes
be levied on luxury goods.
"As I ordered, it is necessary to impose indirect taxes on luxury goods, expensive cars and all sorts of evil passions such as alcohol and cigarettes and so on," the president said.
