The prospects of implementing mutually beneficial joint projects, in particular those in the fuel and energy sector were high on the agenda of talks between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.
The discussions were held during a meeting between Head of Azerbaijan's state energy giant SOCAR Rovnag Abdullayev and Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov as part of Azerbaijani delegation's visit to the Central Asian country to participate at "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan" international exhibition and conference, Turkmen media reported.
The sides discussed various aspects of cooperation in the economic sector.
They stressed that Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, which enjoy huge energy potential, take steps to effectively develop their richest hydrocarbon fields and diversify the energy supply to world markets from the Caspian Sea region.
Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, the two Caspian littoral countries with rich hydrocarbon reserves are interested in using alternative routes for delivering energy resources for the Caspian region to Europe.
Both of the Caspian countries pay special attention to development of energy sector. The two countries having colossal resources and economical potential are willing to continue developing traditional cooperation based on the principles of equality and mutual benefit.
The recent intensification of Turkmen oil transportation via Azerbaijan can be cited as a brilliant example of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
SOCAR has repeatedly stated its interest in establishing a full-scale cooperation with Turkmenistan - a reliable and promising partner, which has huge energy resources and economic potential.
