Legend of Arms exhibition opened at Heydar Aliyev Center in capital Baku on March 15.

Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, and Arzu Aliyeva attended the opening ceremony. The exhibition showcases arms and chain amours used in Europe back in the 16-18th centuries.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Director of the Heydar Aliyev Center Anar Alakbarov provided the audience with an insight into the projects of the Center.

He highlighted "Cradle to Cosmos" project, which was visited by nearly 50,000 people.

Alakbarov thanked those who assisted in organizing "Legend of Arms" exhibition, singling out Wolfgang Muchitsch, Director of Austria's Joanneum Museum, for his contributions.

Muchitsch praised Heydar Aliyev Center's role in holding the exhibition.

He said "Legend of Arms" exhibition is a small part of the collection of Joanneum Museum, which was created in 1857. The old museum is one of the largest in Central Europe with 4.5 million exhibits.

Johannes Ramharter, the curator of "Legend of Arms" exhibition, said the exhibition presents just a small scene from history and highlights defense capabilities of European states in the 16-18th centuries.

During this exhibition, visitors will become living witnesses of history and will learn interesting facts about each exhibit.

The exhibition, which will last until June 5, will demonstrate 130 unique exhibits, including sets from the famous Graz Armory in Austria, the world's largest collection of arms and armor. The weapons and armor displayed at the exhibition are original samples used in various battles.

These exhibits were used for defense of the former capital of Austria, located in the Alpine mountains. These weapons and armor were also used in a number of national movements that took place throughout the empire.

The collection was previously presented in Austria, the US, Canada, Switzerland, Italy, and Japan. Meanwhile, displays in San Francisco, Houston, New York, Washington DC and other US cities attracted more than 1 million visitors.
