Meet life of extraordinary Azerbaijani women

By Laman Ismayilova

There is little time left before the start of the next journey into the past with connoisseur of Azerbaijan's history Fuad Akhundov.

His fascinating stories seem to revive the happy and sad pages of national history.

This Saturday, Fuad Akhundov will share his thoughts about the life of the extraordinary Azerbaijani women.

The event will take place in Azerbaijan Art Museum on May 26, at 15.00.

Those who were not afraid to throw a kind of challenge to the age-old perception of women's role in traditional system.

Fuad Akhundov's new theme "The First Seven Women" will uncover horrific facts of the cultural and bohemian life of pre-revolutionary Baku, repression, shooting and expulsion of the first seven women associated with the names, who risked everything for the sake of art and ideas.

The first Azerbaijani female artist Keisar Kashieva, female pianist Khadija Gayibova, opera singer Shovket Mammadova, and other women who committed revolution in the public outlook and served to rethink the new role and mission of women in the world of rigid male rules.

The topic of the discussion is consonant with the topic of the temporary exhibition devoted to the work of artists of the Soviet underground, who also contrasted their value system with a huge ideological machine that tabulated informal, overly bold and openly evoking trends in art.

Ticket price is 25 AZN ($14). For registration, please contact: 492-07-07
