Turkmenistan appoints new ambassadors to Malaysia, Spain

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedow appointed ambassadors to Malaysia and Spain last week.

The Turkmen government reported that Yazguly Mammadov was appointed Turkmen Ambassador to Malaysia, while Berdimyrat Redzhepov will serve as Turkmen Ambassador to Spain.

The Turkmen leadership announced about its decision to open an embassy in Malaysia in March 2013. The economy of two countries is mutually complementary. The key spheres of mutual interest include trade-economic and fuel-energy spheres.

Turkmenistan's interest in Malaysia is mainly related to the activity of Petronas Charigali State Oil and Gas Company operating in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea since 1996.

This company launched the industrial production and export of oil in Turkmenistan in May 2006. The extracted raw materials are transported through Azerbaijan. The natural gas production has recently become possible. It is possible to transport it through the traditional route to Russia, as well as through the projected route- to Europe (Trans Caspian gas pipeline)

EU, including Spain, connects Turkmenistan, possessing the world natural gas reserves, with the diversification of energy sources. The perspective areas of the Turkmen-Spain partnership are the construction, energy, gas processing, the creation of industrial, transport and social infrastructure.
