Ambassador: Iran will not tolerate repetition of irregularities in June 14 vote

Iran took into account the experience of the 2009 presidential election, and this time will not tolerate the repetition of irregularities and the situation of four years ago, Ambassador of Iran to Russia Seyed Mahmoud-Reza Sajjadi said at a press conference on June 10, RIA Novosti reported.

"Taking into account this experience that we had four years ago (during the presidential elections in Iran in 2009), we have taken the necessary steps, and we have such a prediction that we will hold the election without noise, quietly and absolutely freely, with the participation of the people," he said.

According to him, in 2009 Western intelligence services tried to impose on the people of Iran a candidate whom they needed. It was a very powerful scenario developed by special services of countries aggressive towards Iran, the ambassador said.

"This time the people of Iran and the political forces that exist in Iran, will not allow a repeat of 2009," Sajjadi stated.

Iran will hold the 11th presidential election on June 14.
