President Aliyev appreciates Azerbaijan's high index in ICT development

Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev visited the telecommunication and information technology exhibition "BakuTel 2014" on December 2.
Communication and High Technologies Minister Ali Abbasov informed the head of state about the exhibition that is underway in Baku Expo Center on December 2-5.
He stressed, that this year, Bakutel brought together more than 250 companies from 23 countries, including leading ICT companies, Azerbaijani mobile operators, telecom operators, internet service providers, system integrators and distributors of famous brands.
President Aliyev also visited national and foreign pavilions at the exhibition.
Azerbaijan has reached a high index in the development of information and communication technologies, one of the priorities of the country's economy, President Ilham Aliyev said in his address to the participants of the telecommunication and information technology exhibition "BakuTel 2014" on December 1.
He noted that the important projects implemented in recent years have further strengthened the sustainable and diversified economic potentials of Azerbaijan.
President Aliyev stressed the fact that Azerbaijan has initiated the Trans-Eurasian Information Super Highway project that is supported by UN General Assembly resolution and is gradually implemented today.
The adoption of the National Strategy for Information Society Development for 2014-2020 is a good example of a coherent state policy in this area, President Aliyev said.
"Exhibition and Conference 'BakuTel' has already celebrated the 20th year of its successful operation. This traditional event has turned into a platform to display the technological advances and trends of the past, build business relationships, share experiences, and become better acquainted with the country.
“The initiative of Azerbaijan, a bridge between East and West and North and South, in turning the historic Silk Road into a virtual space has been highly appreciated by influential international organizations. I believe that effective negotiations in the framework of the exhibition and conference will contribute to the deepening of mutual relations," he stressed.
The President welcomed the participants and wished success for the exhibition that celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
The exhibition provides sections such as Communication & Networks, Devices & Accessories, Digital Business Solutions, ECM & Input/Output Solutions, ERP & Data Analysis, IT Infrastructure & Data Centers, IT Services, Research & Innovation, Security, and Web & Mobile.
As usual, BakuTel will present a business program which will feature a conference, seminars, round tables, and business and internet forums in Baku Expo Center.
Visitors will also be able to get free electronic digital signatures at the E-government pavilion of the Baku Expo Center. To that end, visitors should present their ID cards. Digital signatures make the authorship and content of the documents exchanged between organizations through the Internet confident.
The participants of the largest telecommunications exhibition in the Caspian basin and the Caucasus will also enjoy many other opportunities.
