Azerbaijani citizens abroad cast votes to elect country's president

Azerbaijani citizens living in Russia are voting in polling station set up in the Azerbaijani embassy in Russia to elect country's president.

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu said about 1,500 Azerbaijani citizens have been registered at the embassy's consulate service.

Some 135 Azerbaijani electors (or 48 percent) voted in the polling station dislocated in Beijing at 15.00 p.m. local time to elect country's president, a precinct election commission reported.

Moreover, 850 Azerbaijani citizens in Sweden, Norway and Finland can vote in the 36th polling station set up in the Azerbaijani embassy in Sweden.

The voting process is also being held at the polling station, created by the Azerbaijani embassy in Uzbekistan. It started at 8:00 a.m. local time and will be open till 19.00 p.m. About 40 percent of registered electors have voted at 12:00.

The voting process in Azerbaijani embassy in Latvia began at 8:00 a.m. Azerbaijani Ambassador to Latvia Elman Zeynalov voted first.

About 10 percent of the electors voted at 10:00 a.m. local time.

The 43rd polling station opened in Ukraine at 8:00 a.m. local time. Well-known Ukrainian politician Anatoly Kolos is observing the voting process here. More than 1,000 Azerbaijani citizens in Ukraine are expected to participate in the elections.

Azerbaijan's citizens in Hungary are voting at the polling station located in Vienna.
Voting in Vienna will end at 19:00 p.m. Next few hours bus with Hungarian Azerbaijanis is expected to arrive in Austria.

The 39th polling station functions at Azerbaijan's embassy in Germany, where Azerbaijani citizens can participate in the presidential elections.

Azerbaijani citizens in Kyrgyzstan are voting at the polling station created at the Azerbaijani embassy in Kyrgyzstan. Azerbaijani Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Hidayat Orujov first voted to elect the country's president.

Azerbaijani pilgrims who are in Saudi Arabia are also participating in the elections. Some 1,300 electors of the total 3,700 people have voted at 11:00 a.m. Baku time. Voting process is underway.

Azerbaijani citizens in France are also casting their votes at the polling station created in the Cultural Centre in Paris to elect the Azerbaijani president.

Presidential elections in Azerbaijan are being held on October 9. This year ten candidates are competing for the top job, including chairman of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party, President Ilham Aliyev, Umid Party leader Igbal Aghazade, self-nominated candidate Zahid Oruj, chairman of the United Popular Front Party Gudrat Hasanguliyev, Modern Musavat party leader Hafiz Hajiyev, Azerbaijan Social Democratic Party chairman Araz Alizade, National Revival Party leader Faraj Guliyev, chairman of the Adalat (Justice) party Ilyas Ismayilov, Jamil Hasanli from the opposition National Council as well as chairman of the Azerbaijan Democratic Party Sardar Jalaloghlu.
