“Azerbaijani family” festival starts in Baku

"Azerbaijani Family" movie festival started at the State Culture and Art University in Baku, AzerTag state news agency reported.

The festival is a joint project by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the State Committee for Family, Woman and Children Affairs, and the United Nations Population Fund.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, pro-rector of the University Rafig Sadigov and deputy chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs Aynur Sofiyeva emphasized the importance of the event.

Held since 2009, the festival features films by both local and foreign film makers.

The festival's goal is to preserve and pass traditions and national, spiritual, and universal values to the young generation, bring them up in the spirit of respecting the elders, and promote the culture of tolerance and peace in family relations.

"The State Committee for Family, Woman and Children Affairs permanently carries out such awareness-raising projects. One of the projects successfully implemented in this direction using the abilities of cinematograph is the 'Azerbaijani Family' film festival, held since 2009 in cooperation with the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and United Nations Population Fund," Sofiyeva said, adding that a photo competition titled "From Photo to Life," will be arranged on the sidelines of the festival.

The materials presented to the Committee that match the aim and idea of the festival will be valued by the jury that consists of acclaimed scientists and cultural figures.

The winners will receive diplomas, cups, and gifts.
