The second project on construction of social houses in Azerbaijan will be implemented in the capital city.

Head of staff at the State Housing Development Agency Anar Guliyev told ASAN Radio that the area for the construction of the houses has already been selected.

Within the second project, houses are planned to be constructed in Surakhani district, near Hovsan settlement and cover an area of some 20 hectares.

“Demand is high in Baku. However, we plan to construct such buildings in other cities and regions of the country. Work is currently underway on selection of areas for the construction of such houses,” he said.

Guliyev clarified that citizens will have several paying options in particular, they will have a right to make full cash payment, to raise a credit (with a term of 30 years) from the mortgage fund, as well as to get loans from other financial sources.

Subsidized housing is expected to become the best solution for the citizens with low or moderate incomes. Additionally, after this process gets a massive scale, it will have a positive impact on the sectors of construction and production of building materials, eventually contributing to overall industrial potential of the country.

Social houses within the first project will be constructed in Yasamal residential complex. A foundation stone for the first nine-storey building in the complex was laid in late December 2016. The complex will consist of 29 multi-apartment buildings.

A number of social facilities will be built in the complex, including a 240-seat kindergarten and a 960-seat secondary school. The opening of this first project is scheduled for 2018.

Applying for social housing is expected to start in the short run. Population will be provided with all necessary information about requirements for acquisition of apartments on easy terms.
