Bakutel 2016, the 22nd Azerbaijan International Exhibition and Conference on Telecommunications and Information Technologies opened at Baku Expo Centre on November 29 with participation of 200 companies from 18 countries.

Over the last 20 years, Bakutel, the largest exhibition in the region, has been bringing together leading players of the communications market once a year. As the main arena for presenting IT products and services, Bakutel has acquired status as the main business platform where contacts are made and new businesses are created.

President Ilham Aliyev sent a message to the participants of the Exhibition, wishing each of them success in their future activities.

"This traditional exhibition and conference, turning into the most prestigious event in the field of telecommunications and information technologies in the Caspian region, as a rule, is an area for the presentation of the latest achievements in the sphere of high technologies in our country, as well as a number of states and the world's leading companies," he said.

Head of state noted that Azerbaijan, experiencing today a period of sustained progress, has defined the development of high technologies as a priority.

"The country has created favorable conditions for the adequate use of modern technology, provide high-speed access to the Internet, which is an integral part of everyday society, and the possibility of free use. At the moment we are engaged in transition to digital broadcasting. Thanks to modern techniques and the use of technological innovations, "e-government system" has been extended in the government," President Aliyev said.

Launch of technological parks, use of advanced technologies in all spheres, state support of industrial and innovative oriented projects, including concessional financial support, are leading to the development of start-ups and this forms the growth of initiative of young people and, ultimately, the dynamic growth of the economy, the president noted.

"Azerspace-1 and Azersky satellites secured their rightful place of our country in the global space family, while at the same time they play an important role in ensuring the region's satellite communications services. I hope that the orbiting of another telecommunications satellite 'Azerspace-2' will lay the foundation for a new stage in the development of space industry in Azerbaijan. I believe that the fruitful meetings that will be held during the exhibition and the conferences will contribute to the emergence and implementation of new initiatives to further deepen mutual relations," he said.

The exhibition features national stands from a number of countries, actively supported by Azerbaijan's Ministry of Communications and High Technologies. Thus, the pavilion of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Communication will present the innovations in post, communication and “e-government”.

Minister of Communications and High Technologies Ramin Guluzade visited the exhibition.

Some 40 percent of the total number of participants includes permanent exhibitors of Bakutel including leading ICT companies, mobile operators, telecom operators, internet service providers, system integrators and distributors of famous brands.
